DIY projects never cease

Well it has been absolutely hectic since we finished work at the end of September.

Log-burner on glass plinth

The first week and a half were spent demolishing the brick fireplace in the lounge, bricking up the old open fire recess and putting in a new flue for our log burning stove. Next we laid oak wooden flooring to replace the laminate and then “floated” a 12mm thick glass plinth on top of the wooden flooring as a hearth for the log burner. Some new skirting and a lick of paint completed the project: just in time for Laura, Neil, Lara and Robin to join us for dinner and an overnight stay.
