Brocken spectre

A clear Brocken spectre - ghostly goings-on high on Bynack More

A series of concentric rainbow-like rings of colours that form around the head of one’s own shadow that has been projected onto mist or cloud formations. Such phenomena are known as “glories” – or in the mountaineering community – Brocken spectre. See blog: “Have you ever seen a Brocken spectre?” for further details.
